How I Stopped Overthinking a Decision and Trusted My Intuition

Ten seconds of trust beat six months of planning

I spent six months trying to plan my way into something that ended up taking one impromptu, totally unplanned sentence.

One of my goals for the new year was to offer in-person Akashic Records readings in Nashville, TN. I love my local community and wanted my business to be a part of it.

So I started taking steps toward this goal that made logical sense to me and were well-planned. And that's where it went sideways.

I did what I thought I should do instead of listening to what my intuition was telling me.

I sent personalized, heartfelt emails to really cool local businesses that I could see myself reading at, and got zero responses.

I had conversations with other spiritual practitioners who'd built Nashville-based clientele and took careful notes on how they did it, only to realize there was no way I could take the same, deeply personal paths they followed.

I walked into shops that felt exactly right, stood there, and left without asking, because the layout didn't seem like it would work for what I do (lol, a floor plan was the reason I gave myself).

Months of this with no progress.

Then I attended an event at a small business in my neighborhood and struck up a no-stakes, fun conversation with the owner. She started telling me about this full moon party she was putting together. Queer line dancing, tarot readers, a full moon ritual. It sounded like an event I would love to attend (or could have created myself in an alternative timeline).

And without even thinking (it felt like I was possessed for a moment), I said, "you should have me do Akashic Records readings at a future event."

She said, "why not this one?"

That was it.

One sentence said in a conversation I was enjoying, before my mind could draft a better version of it (hello, recovering perfectionist) or talk me out of it (hi, fear, my old friend).

That's the entire difference between the six months of effort that went nowhere and the ten seconds that worked.

Proof comes after you take the step

Originally, my mind had pictured this goal as a big, complicated thing, so it jumped in the driver’s seat with an organized plan, and I followed it blindly: researching, preparing, planning.

When really, I should have noticed that knee-jerk reaction to think my way through something, and taken a moment to quiet my mind so I could hear my own intuition.

That’s exactly what happened in that conversation with the shop owner. I felt grounded and present enough to hear my intuition when it got loud and said, “Girl, shoot your shot. This person is giving off good energy, you’re safe, and amazing at what you do. Do it. Do it now.”

Could it be this easy? Yes. Trusting my intuition feels like an illegal amount of easy. Especially because it means I often do the thing before I feel ready or polished, like this example.

A busy mind wants proof before it'll co-sign taking the next step. Intuition works in the reverse order. It offers a small yes first, and the evidence comes from acting on it.

That's why I’m collecting the receipts each time I act on my intuition, so the next one takes way less effort and time. I say (or do) the thing, watch it go fine, then file the evidence away, and repeat.

Somewhere to practice this trust

That gap, between the moment you sense your intuition and the moment you actually move on it, is what we're closing in Grounded Coven.

The first cohort is midway through the program, where we're practicing this arc to shorten that distance. Quiet the mind enough to hear yourself. Learn how your intuition speaks to you. Say or do the small, unpolished thing. Then notice the evidence, so the next one is easier.

And it’s making a difference.

Thought spirals are getting shorter. Decisions are happening faster because they’re spending less time questioning themselves and more time trusting their intuition.

And yes, it’s feeling easy. One woman in our Coven had been circling the same decision for months. On our second call, she told us she finally made the decision three days after starting a five-minute morning practice because the answer was so undeniably clear.

What changed wasn’t the size of the decision; it was how long it took her to actually hear and listen to her intuition. Months down to days down to seconds.

The waitlist for the next cohort of Grounded Coven is open. We start in October and go through the end of the year.

A small group, a season of practice, and a different relationship with your own intuition.

If you’re feeling drawn to this work, let joining the waitlist be your small, unpolished step. Then notice what unfolds from there.

If waiting isn't for you, I've opened a few spots for private one-on-one coaching to help you reconnect to your intuition at your own pace.

Last night I did in-person Akashic Records readings for the first time in Nashville, at a full moon party. It was magic!
